I m still having the same issues after 60k miles many days at the ford dealers trying to fix it. The local dealer all star Ford 3800 century way pittsburgh, ca 94565 was called and informed the contact that the fuel field inlet failed and needed to be replaced. Take the plastic funnel that's used for filling up with a gas can and shove it in and out of it a few times. They said they checked for emissions warranty and it doesn't qualify. Replaced fuel pump in tank, fuel filter, fuel power module, all was fine for three weeks. Not a problem unless you have emmissions checks, then it needs to be fixed to pass. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.
Search turned up one thread from 09, not a help really. The vehicle started back up without issue and has been running fine since. It could also be a leak somewhere in the vapor lines but you'll need a pro to diagnose that. From behind the assembly tou have to reach up from the inner fender and push the plastic latches that hold the assembly in place. The purpose is to allow fuel vapor to vent out of the tank as you're filling and the one on top of my fuel tank broke off on this truck which causes that light and my check engine light to periodically come on. I consider the sudden shut off to be a major safety issue, particularly driving in mountains as I do.
Fixed it for a tankful, then engine light came back on again. As soon as it was running,we traded it for the escape. Keys were not in the ignition. The vehicle was not repaired. Do we have a fix that I don't have to sign my life away to get? Thelma NoMoreFord answered 3 years ago I m having the same problem with my 2012 Ford Escape plus transmission problems since day 1 I bought the car. The contact stated that while driving at a low speed, the vehicle hit a bump and the fuel tank fell onto the ground.
I had it towed to my house for repair. You couldn't give me a Ford with free gas and service the rest of my life. I talked to a Ford mechanic and he told me that it was a valve in the return line that caused the front tank to over fill from the rear tank. Doing a search on Google disclosed this is a common occurrence on all new Ford models. Keiser answered 2 years ago After reading all these complaints I am not surprised. Well I think my truck is just mad at me. No engine performance issues and no vapor leaks.
If it's sticky that should free it up. Truck dies 8 times today and all the same problems are back. I assume you are beyond the basic warranty, but what about the emissions defects and emissions performance warranty? I took it the other day and it was stated that they couldn't duplicate the problem, then they said it could be a O2 sensor. Vehicle would stall at random while driving. Thank you all for your post, it was truly helpful. This has happened 2 times after I got gas. I cleared message by hitting reset.
It does not produce any engine error codes. Anyone written to their atty gen office? Then check engine light came on. I like the convenience of not having a cap, but I don't like how debris could fall into the tank. The dealer stated they were not responsible as they only replaced the straps. The owners manual says to use the plastic fuel fill nozzle that came with the truck to clear the error by inserting it several times but it may not clear the error.
This happens intermittently when the truck comes to a stop, but has also happened while driving casually at approximately 45 mph on city streets. With loss of power steering and power brakes when this happens. The 1st time the engine would crank but would not fire. I haven't driven it much in the last 3 weeks as I'm running jobs since we are busy again and I have a company truck. I will give an update once the problem is figured out. Dealer is clueless as to a fix for either. They got out of the truck in a hurry and ran.
You just need a bit more of the pin sticking out than before. Consumer writes in concerning safety recall 11v385000 regarding fuel tanks the consumer stated the fuel tank straps were replaced on September 28, 2011. Wow, that video was quite graphic! It happened to me once and that solved it. The dealer did not offer any assistance when contacted. Now today 14 Feb I am having the same problems. Loved the car until this issue came up.
