The movie reflects that so well, I can not do it justice by praising it with words. She tells Selby what she has done and decides to quit working as a prostitute. The movie has a lot of other assets. They dominate the film between them, but the supporting performances are fine also. She robs and kills her , each killed in a more brutal way than the last, as she is convinced that they are all trying to rape her. Bruce's mysterious past and the answer to why the radiation had this effect becomes revealed to him as his birth father David Banner intervenes with hopes to continue experimenting on him.
Also she reaccounts her childhood and how she became a prostitute. I imagine if that was portrayed realistically, the movie would be unwatchable. Aileen uses the money she stole from her victims to support herself and Selby. She was nothing if not honest. But supporting herself and her new girlfriend through legitimate means proves extremely difficult, and she soon falls back on old ways. Ricci is also good here. Why would someone want to be comment number 458? The film follows Aileen from the time she met her lover Selby. Each murder is more violent then the last. Despite adverse comments from other reviewers, I consider Christina Ricci's portrayal of Shelby equally remarkable, conveying childlike naivety, seductiveness, stubbornness and growing manipulativeness very well. She then goes back to her hotel room to be with Selby.
I just thought she was deeply, emotionally disturbed. The violence is not glorified--it's bloody and sick and one is the most harrowing thing I've seen in years.
